Usage Guidance

This metric is intended to capture the total, lifetime amount of water potentially treated by products sold during the reporting period.

Treating water aims to improve water’s quality to make it more acceptable for an end-use, such as drinking, industry, or safe return to the environment, by removing or reducing existing water contaminants.

When multiplying the water treatment capacity of each product sold by Units/Volume Sold: Total (PI1263), organizations should, under Units/Volume Sold: Total (PI1263), use the absolute number of product units sold rather than the volume of water treatment delivered by the product.
